"So tell me why, I dont like Mondays...tell me why!"
Oh wait...wrong day of the week since this blog is titled "I love Sundays!". But I wrote that title and suddenly the Boomtown Rats song from the 80's "I dont like Mondays" began to twirl in my head. I digress...
I realize that Steve-O has us all waiting with baited breath for the conclusion of our After Party Comedy Hoo Ha story, but in the meantime, I had to interject on my new love of Sundays. To the average person, a Sunday could possibly just be the second day in the weekend. But TO ME, Linda, the girl who has worked holidays and weekends for the last 15 years, a Sunday now takes on a whole new meaning. I wake up leisurely on Saturdays, with a smile on my face realizing that I have a full two days ahead to do whatever I please. I go about my business, knowing full well that I have ANOTHER full day ahead where I can do absolutely nothing or everything! Thing is, Its my choice and I Love it!
Why do I have my weekends free, you're wondering? Well, maybe you recall that I got fired from my radio gig as a DJ in February? I had worked for a Smooth Jazz station in NYC that decided to change format after 20 years to Rock. And unfortunately for me and for about 30 other people, that change did not include us. Initially I was sad, then angry, then back to sad...but as the first free weekend was experienced, my sadness turned to joy. I can be normal now. (Well relatively cause lets face it, I'm in the entertainment field and none of us are really "normal")
So what do I do with my weekends now? Typical things really. I get coffee and read the paper in my PJ's. I watch cooking shows and home improvement shows. I go to Home Depot and buy crap for my house. I go out with friends and drink heavily knowing I dont have to worry about waking early the next day. I stay in bed with my boyfriend till noon, if the mood pleases us. I also clean my house within an inch of its life and THAT my friends, is my ultimate joy. Sound boring?? To me, nothing is better than going to bed Sunday night with all my laundry done, my floors shined, my kitchen and bathroom spotless and my sheets cleaned. I am a TRUE VIRGO in that sense...love me or leave me. And those things may seem unexciting overall, but for me, after doing 15 years of weekends on the job, I relish every last boring moment of my newfound weekend freedom.
And speaking of weekends, next time I blog, I'll fill you in on the last time that Rob, Steve, our friend Sandy and I went out for a laugh. It was 3/4's of The After Party crew and we were peeing our pants with laughter. AND...I'll have more dirt I'm sure, as I'm hosting a dinner party at my house this coming weekend. Details to follow shortly kids.
In the words of your pal and mine, Steve Strangio..."And...scene..."
