My name is Steve, but you can call me .. Steve
So after all of this planning, it's finally time to get this sucker movin'!
I can honestly say that there was a good vibe in the room. P
eople were fed, due to Donna's spread and Linda's boyfriend Andrew also contributing an multitude of sandwiches to the cause.Rob helped donate the wine, so the audience was appropriately liquored up and ready for comedy!
Everyone found their seats and we had a packed house.
Donna and Linda opened up by addressing the crowd and letting people know what they were in for.
While that w
as happening, I was doing what I've done many times before in comedy clubs ... hanging in the back with the comics, trading looks with the guys that meant, "Get prepared for battle boys! WE'RE GOING IN!!!That's what usually goes on in the mind of a comic before a show. It's kinda like a battle. You have to be mentally prepared to face an audience that may or may not find you funny. You have to risk potentially embarrassing yourself in front of a room of people ... and then be prepared for the consequences if you do.
My job? To be prepared for that AND keep the show going AND get the crowd ready for the next comedian.
Hey ... it's the job.
So my name is called and I casually stroll to the front of the room, smiling all of the time. It's important to make an instant connection with the audience if you're the host. I'm gonna be the guy to lead them through the night, so I have to be on my game.
I instantly noticed who I shall refer to as "The Two Heathers" right up front. These are two lovelies that are in Linda's voice over class. It's good to have two cute babes smiling at me at the very beginning. Gives me comfort ... and also visions of the beginning of a very hot letter to Penthouse.
"Dear Penthouse, I never thought that these letters were true until I encountered two smokin' hot babes sitting in the front of a comedy show where I was the host ...."I welcomed the crowd, told them the names of the comedians for the show ... and we were off and running!
Was I funny enough?
... more to come!
