After Party Comedy HooHa - Part Seven

... and the saga continues!

So Steve Lazarus in up there, doing that thing he does, and I head to the back of the crowd to de-stress a bit.

Getting to this point of the show was pretty exhausting, but we still have a show to do.

Now usually, when you get a group of comedians into one specific location, then add the pressure of a show, not only will hilarity ensue, but you'll also get a generous dose of adrenaline fueled mayhem.

A sort of mania overcomes a comedian just before a show due to several factors ...

- You have to face a crowd that will either laugh of just stare at you and groan.

- You have to remember every single detail of a routine that lasts anywhere between 10 to 45 minutes.

- You have to rely on yourself and remember that you're the one that's out there under the hot spotlight.

Sounds like fun .. don't it?

To compensate for this mania, comics usually rely on each other to keep them sane. This usually includes horrific insults and over-inflated laughter usually followed by evil glances by any audience member nearby.

Namely Linda.

She kept shooting "dagger eyes" at us (meaning "Them Comedy Guys") every time we cracked each other up and got a little loud.

Can't blame her honestly. It's disrespectful to the person on stage ... but hey ... it's what happens when you keep comedians too close to one another during a show.

Comedians ranking each other out is also a time honored tradition that is generally done to keep each other in check. Performing and doing well in front of a crowd gives a person an over inflated sense of ego, so the comedians will cut each other down in order to keep that in check.

So I alternated between deflecting Lovely Linda's "Eyes of Evil" and joining in with the "Comedy Chaos."

I didn't care if they did the same to me while I was on stage .... it's only fair.

Lazarus finished his set and we did our usual round of "Hey you were great!" and "Good set!" compliments that every comic (me included) seems to need when they get off stage.

Rich Walker was up next.

So what happened while he was on stage?

.... stay tuned.
