Comedy HooHa Has Landed - Part Four

Did I mention that my name is Steve?

So things finally kick into high gear as the comics start arriving and the people for the show also begin showing up.

Linda made me some signs to plaster all over the building, since it's kinda like a rat's maze in there. We don't want our guests getting lost and winding up in an office where they sell carpet samples or some wacky thing like that.

I made a quick trip to the bathroom to "de-sweat myself" and make sure I was all nice and shiny to receive guests to the show.

Now, originally, I thought that the entire event would take place in the offices of Digital Waterworx. We'd do the cocktail thing there and then do the show.

However, the plan as "the After Party Babes" figured it out, was to take a conference room and turn it into a swank and groovy cocktail party shindig with all of the trimmings .... and that plan worked out nicely.

After moving some tables, arranging some chairs, turning off the blinding fluorescent lights, and adding .. of course .. WINE BOTTLES ... people took to it rather nicely.

All of Donna and Linda and Rob's friends were arriving. My friends? They showed up also, but I gotta tellya, my invites created havoc for me right up to the actual event. The people who showed? They weren't a problem. It was the people that no-showed that drove me kablooey.

Y'know those types of people that give you "the vague answer" when you asked them to do something?

"Uh, yeah, I think I'm free. When's the latest that I can get back to you?"

The latest?

How about never?

Is that good?

I had 5 people cancel on me TWO DAYS before the show.

Then I had one friend that gave me the, "Sure I'm free .. wait a minute .. no .. okay maybe ... uh ... I can be there ... hold on ... I'll see ... when is it again?"

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Okay, how about this? Whaddaya say you just tell me yes or no so I don't have to get so pissed off at you? Can we do that? Understand that concept Copernicus?

Sheeeeeeesh.

Anyway, 5 people showed, three friends and two new friends ... so whatever.

Comics were mingling with audience members, people were making new friends, and it was a cool vibe.

My friend Keith even got to meet Rob and ask him, "So what's the big deal with you not introducing Steve to these hot babes you keep telling him about?"

Y'see, Keith is a good pal that was a massive party guy, but he's about to get married. He'd always include me in his adventures and he couldn't understand why Rob kept saying that he'd introduce me to some fun babes .. but never does.

Rob's response?

"Uh, yeah .. I TRIED .. it's just .. y'know."

Okay ... MOVING ON!

The audience was properly fed and wine'd up ... so it was time to herd them into the studio.

There was comedy to be havin'!

.... more to come.
