I'm so addicted...

Linda here...

In a word, my latest addiction starts with a G and ends with an F and involves getting a small object into a small hole. Sounds dirty doesnt it? Even nasty when you really let your mind go to that dark place right?

Stop your wandering lustful thoughts and join me in the land of...
GOLF!

Golf is my latest addiction and I'm shocked really that it has begun to consume my thoughts. I guess I shouldnt be surprised really since my background is..well...let me start from the beginning and explain my story.

(begin Scottish Accent)
One day, a long, long time ago, when I was a wee little girl in the land o' Scotland...wearin' me kilt and knickers at the age of 5...
Okay, thats not exactly true.

What is true, is the fact that my very first love, my first boyfriend, my first sexual encounter happened with a budding professional golfer, Danny. I was 14, he was 17. We met in school and had a long 10 year on again/off again relationship that CLEARLY affected me later in life. We would spend every evening on the driving range, or putting on the green, or having sex (we were teenagers!). Then during our college years, every weekend was spent traveling to golf tournaments so he could get experience and rack up some trophies along the way. We lived and breathed GOLF for several years and I had a chance to learn from an extremely talented guy. I picked up the game easily and seemed to have a knack for it...but then we broke up and of course, I wanted NOTHING to do with the game.

Cut to 12 years later, when I'm offered a free set of clubs from a coworkers wife and her shoes which miraculously fit my large feet, I took it as a sign that I should revisit my love of the game. And that brings me to the present.

A few weeks ago, I set out to take some lessons and see if I still had any interest so I began by visiting a public driving range. One hour later on that driving range, and I was HOOKED. The feel of the club, the exhilaration of hitting the sweet spot on this tiny ball, the challenge of playing with the boys again - all spoke to me. The game whispered, "Linda, you can do this again. Hit that ball. Hit it." (for some reason it was in a sexy voice, but I digress)

Smack went my club against the ball off the tee, soaring into the air - 100 yards, 125 yards, 150 yards! To my amazement, it felt right. Like I'd said hello to an old friend again. And I had. I embraced it head on and kept coming back for more over the next 2 weeks. Finally, it was time to seek out my new golf instructor. Someone to guide me and give me the confidence and skill I would need to see a golf course again in full. Enter Victor.

Now I'm a brave girl in general, but when Rob offered to join me for my first golf lesson, I couldnt refuse. I got excited! The chance for the two of us to experience this together was gonna be too much fun in my eyes, so we booked an hour with a pro named Victor. I had no idea if he was any good at teaching golf, but the lazy front desk girl claimed he knew his stuff. Ooookay! I half expected some 17 year old kid to be teaching us, but to our shock, Victor turned out to be a tall, middle aged, handsome man with an incredible knack for teaching golf WELL. Hallelujah! Like my angels said, "Here's a gift for you! A GREAT coach!"

I've only had two lessons so far and am still working on my swing, but I cannot stop thinking about getting out to that driving range again. I lie in bed at night consumed with those thoughts. During the day I try to get my work done so I can leave the office early. I never knew I could fall in love like this again and I guess I always thought it would only be with a man.

So maybe my first love wasnt my exboyfriend Danny after all...maybe my first love really was golf?

Stay tuned...
Linda
